THE ACT OF ACTIVELY PURSUING A STATE OF GOOD HEALTH

LAMENESS DIAGNOSIS & INJURY PREVENTION

INJURY PREVENTION AND DIAGNOSIS - Subtle soundness issues can affect the performance of equine athletes, even if they are still able to compete. Looking at the horse before they are injured is an effective way to minimize the chances of injury. When do come up sore - we find it and treat it.

DIGITAL RADIOGRAPHY Our radiographic packages are priced to encourage thorough study production which gives our veterinarians and radiographers the ability to produce the best study for your horse.   All images are stored in our cloud PACs system indefinitely and can be emailed upon request to you.

DIGITAL ULTRASONOGRAPHY The ability to image and accurately interpret the images produced in ultrasonography comes with experience, practice, and continued education. At AIM we have all 3.  All images are stored in our onsite and cloud PACs system indefinitely and can be emailed upon request to you.

GASTROSCOPY  is the only method to definitively determine if a horse has equine gastric ulcer syndrome.  Gastric ulcers have been shown to affect 60% of competition horses and 90% of racehorses.  The symptoms of EGUS are often subtle and not related to their GI tract.  Contact AIM to find out if your horse may be suffering needlessly.

BEHAVIORAL ASSESSMENTS - Is your horse not performing to potential? Performance problems plague athletes regardless of their discipline or species. It could be physical - or emotional - we can work with you and your trainer to diagnose and treat the issue at our place or yours.

WELLNESS BREAKS & BEHAVIORAL ‘BOOT CAMP’

WELLNESS BREAKS - We take vacations - why shouldn’t we give our horses time off? We offering varying paddock/pasture sizes with a few friends or with the herd.

BEHAVIORAL BOOT CAMP - Got some issues? We can work with your horse - young or old - we use a constructional approach to train skill sets. Freedom with responsibility is our creed. No negative reinforcement methods are used.

“RETIREMENT” is in quotes because at CFR our herd horses are an active part of our day - they participate in massage courses, teach us about behavior, communicate with us and help us learn about connection.

CHIROPRACTIC & ACUPUNCTURE - SPORTS THERAPY

ACUPUNCTURE & CHIROPRACTIC THERAPY

Acupuncture needles stimulate or interrupt the flow of this qi energy, blood flow and nerve conduction effectively changing the disease process.  Acupuncture can be helpful to relieve pain, relax muscles and remove compensations built up from repetitive movements.

Chiropractic and Spinal Manipulation focus on the biomechanical dysfunction of the spine and its effect on the entire nervous system throughout the body.  If the horse loses normal flexibility of its spine, it affects performance and results in stiffness and muscular tension.  Reduced mobility between two vertebrae decrease nerve function which leads to interference in the smooth coordination of body functions and muscle contractions.

EQUINOLOGY® & MASTERSON THERAPY

The Equinology® Approach addresses the whole body, implementing specific manual palpation methods to assess soft tissue and symmetry of muscle and structure, and utilizing detailed static and dynamic evaluation to inform the practitioner. Different bodywork techniques —including sports massage, soft tissue mobilization, stretching, range of motion and positioning exercises, as well as “focal” point work (stress and trigger points) — are combined to provide optimal support for horses working in every discipline.
